Live Fire

Lajos Grendel’s Live Fire – originally published in Hungarian as Éleslövészet – is his first and most famous novel – in fact, after the first edition of the novel in 1981, Lajos Grendel’s name became widely known in Hungarian literary circles. Live Fire is the first work in his trilogy summarizing his absurd historical understanding and the „private” history of ethnic Hungarians living in Slovakia. While interwoven with sarcastic humor of the book is a social and historical analysis classified by many as postmodern, thanks to its peculiar method of construction.
